HCR, the award winning Relocation Management Company, has achieved the Carbon Footprint Standard in recognition of their efficient carbon management.
As the first relocation company within the UK to be accredited with an ISO 14001 certificate in environmental management, HCR continues to take the lead in tackling climate change within the relocation industry. Their latest success in environmental recognition, witnesses HCR achieving the esteemed Carbon Footprint Standard.
The Carbon Footprint Standard accreditation provides unified and independent recognition of HCR’s commitments and performance in carbon management. Aligned with international best practice/standards such as ISO14064, PAS2050 and PAS2060, the certification is presented to organisations as a mark of excellence for those who demonstrate success in managing their carbon footprint.
As part of the Standard, HCR undertook an exhaustive assessment of their carbon emissions to ISO14064. The assessment highlighted that HCR’s carbon dioxide emissions produced per person in the business, was impressively low 1.2 tonnes - 1 tonne less than an average office-based Service Company. HCR's total carbon footprint was calculated at 277.88 tCO2e per annum.
HCR worked together with world renowned Carbon Management company Carbon Footprint Ltd, in order to achieve this highly regarded environmental accreditation. Dr Wendy Buckley, director of Carbon Footprint Ltd commented:
“HCR has shown that growing a business, while being committed to manage carbon and environmental impact is quite possible, and they are actively driving down their impact year on year.”
HCR believe the Carbon Footprint Standard enables the company to benchmark their environmental management, whilst identifying current major emission sources and opportunities for savings in the future. However the relevance of HCR Group’s efforts is not just applicable to them and their internal management. This is explained by Managing Director, Andrew Finney:
“Our clients rightly expect us to be applying as much diligence as we can to their relocation projects, with regards to environmental impact and carbon emissions. We are taking a leadership position in our market sector to ensure that we make our environmental impact transparent to our clients. The award of the Carbon Footprint Standard provides the validation of our efforts. Over the coming years we’re also committed to reducing our carbon footprint even further, ensuring that wherever our clients’ assignees travel we help them to leave the right footprints. ”
